WORLD TEAMTENNIS leagues consist of at least three teams. Leagues are based on the NTRP skill rating of the participating players (see below). Currently, there are NTRP 3.5 and 4.5 leagues in the Pittsburgh area. A 4.0 league is now being formed for fall and winter play.

How to Organize a WTT Team

A team has a minimum of four players-two men and two women. You may also have additional full time and alternate players up to a maximum of ten. The match format consists of five or six no-ad sets: men's and women's doubles, men's and women's singles and one or two sets of mixed doubles.

The average NTRP rating of the top four players (2 men and 2 women) on your team determines if your team plays in the 3.5, 4.0 or 4.5 league.

For example:

If the NTRP ratings of your team's members are:

John 4.0 Joan 4.0 Alex 4.0 Sally 3.5 Mike 4.0 Ann 3.5 Tom 3.0 Sue 3.5

The best 4 players are 4.0 + 4.0 + 4.0 + 3.5 = 15.5 15.5 divided by 4 players = 3.8 This team would compete in the 4.0 league.

For play at the local level, participants don't   require certified NTRP ratings. However, at the regional and national levels, an official NTRP rating for all of your players is necessary.

WTT players must be at least 18 years of age and be WTT members. USTA membership is not required.

If you form a team, you will probably be the team captain. The captain's duties are:

A. Organize and select a team (at least 2 men and 2 women plus alternates) up to a maximum of 10 players. Provide a full team (at least 2 men and 2 women) per scheduled match.

B. Choose a team name.

C. Distribute all pertinent league materials to team members.

D. Give League Director completed rosters at first week's match. Only then can DuPont WTT Membership packages and t-shirts be ordered from the National Headquarters.

E. Call your team's members to organize matches and practices.

F. At each match determine the lineup, make substitutions and ensure proper sequence of sets.

G. Report match results to League Director.
